From a child’s nursery rhyme, to the silent, symphonic chorus of creation to a little, lone star quietly announcing the birth of the Messiah, “the heavens declare the glory of God.” Have we gotten so busy that we have forgotten to stop and look at all that God has created for us? Have we ceased hearing creation speak? I think we tend to be so wrapped up in Scripture, that we forget that God reveals himself to us through his creation as well. I’m glad the Magi didn’t ignore nature’s call, I’m glad Solomon observed ants and I’m glad Jesus called our attention to lilies and birds.
I’m glad that there are people like Amber Straughn in this world, who have the opportunity to explore the universe, and I actually tend to see eternity and heaven in much the same way that I view the work of an astronomer. An astronomer spends their life exploring the universe, discovering and expanding our known portion of space. I think heaven will be much the same way, in that we will continuously discovering new and wonderful things about God. That we will spend eternity exploring the infinity of God and we will always be learning something that we had never known before. But unlike here, we will know and learn of God perfectly, not forgetting what knowledge we have already gained.
