Musings from a Ragamuffin

"Christianity is not a series of truths in the plural, but rather a truth spelled with a capital 'T'. Truth about total reality, not just about religious things. Biblical Christianity is Truth concerning total reality - and the intellectual hold of that Total Truth and then living in the light of that Truth." - Francis Schaeffer

I'm not surprised

If we were created as relational beings, then this news story doesn't surprise me at all: Loneliness may be hazardous to your health

Very interesting article. Thanks for sharing it.

Having just moved here 7 months ago, leaving all my friends and family behind, I think I've experienced more loneliness lately than I ever have before! Thank goodness for the church family, huh? Even though I know it takes time to form friendships, at least I have the fellowship of other Christians to begin making these new relationships with.

i'm sure it hasn't been the easiest thing for you guys to move out here - but i we are all glad you guys did!

the entire article on lonliness, to me, was just another evidence that we are created in the image of God. God, a relational being, would create us to be relational as well - both to God and to one another, which is, in part why the Christian community is so important. for me, it was another proof of a design feature rather than random chance.

Thank you for your kind words, Shawn. We are glad to be here too. Even though we miss those we left behind, it's just a chance to see more of God's beautiful creation an meet more wonderful people like you and Davina! I know I'm looking forward to getting to know both of you better as time goes on. (P.S. My parents are coming in tonight and we're taking them to see the Grand Canyon this weekend. I'm so excited!) : )

You're exactly right! That article is more evidence of our being created in the image of God. Relationships to God and each other are so very important. Sometimes when we get all bent out of shape regarding worship styles and other "non-salvation" issues in the church, I think we're missing the point. God wants His church to be about relationships to Him and to each other and to all those we come in contact with.
