Musings from a Ragamuffin

"Christianity is not a series of truths in the plural, but rather a truth spelled with a capital 'T'. Truth about total reality, not just about religious things. Biblical Christianity is Truth concerning total reality - and the intellectual hold of that Total Truth and then living in the light of that Truth." - Francis Schaeffer

LOST S3E4 - Tonight

Yes, the fourth episode for LOST is on tonight. Looks like we are going back to the Others camp. It also looks like Locke is planning on a rescue attempt of Jack, Kate and Sawyer - even after Hurley told them they were not to. The last time we were at the Others camp, Sayid, Jin, and Sun had barely escaped a shoot out with the Others when they, lead by "Zeke" (Mr. Friendly), stole their boat. Jin had shot that lady (can't remember her name) and Sawyer purposefully got into a brawl with a bunch of them. Also, Benry had made an offer to Jack about leaving the Island and going home.

Tonight ought to be a good one. Can't wait.

So...do you think the Others gave Hurley that message with an alterior motive?

Specifically, that they know and anticipate that a message of "stay away" will have the opposite effect and will antagonize the rest of the survivors to attack?

Or is there no alterior motive and the meaning of the message just that - stay away?

I'm just perplexed as to why they would send Hurley back with a message of "don't save your friends." Why???

I think the Others meant it - I don't think that there is any ulterior motive behind it. I think whatever the Others are up to - they are, if nothing else, extremely calculating and precise. I think it would be foolish for Locke to do anything - but then, perhaps I've bought into the "otherness" of the Others.

I like the way the writers spend an entire episode at one location (the camp or the Others). It has been great to develop the Other characters and keep the interest of the viewer. I hope I can stay involved with the show after 24 starts, but 24 is my 'first love'!

Laura - they'll probably give a really good cliff hanger at the end of episode 6 so that you will have to watch the mid-season shows once they start. I don't know if I can give up one show for another - they are both so good for different reasons.
